Heifer or Steer

We offer the option to purchase a steer or heifer directly from our farm. This is a convenient solution for customers who don’t have their own livestock but would still like homekill meat for personal use.

Grazing

Common for farmers to obtain grazing from land owners for some of their stock , we can offer grazing once you have purchased an animal. With feed and clean water you can observe and check them as often as you like. However cattle beast only requires grass feed and clean water to maintain it physical health.

Grazing for the 28 days is at a cost of $12

For customers who don’t currently have livestock, we offer the option to purchase a steer or heifer directly from our farm. This provides a straightforward way to secure quality homekill meat without the need to source or manage an animal yourself.

We handle the process from selection through to slaughter, ensuring the animal is well cared for and processed in line with New Zealand homekill regulations. This option is ideal for families wanting the homekill experience without owning livestock or arranging grazing elsewhere.

Pricing and availability vary depending on animal size, age, and timing. We’re happy to discuss your needs and explain the process before anything is confirmed.

Grazing option on our farm

For customers who already own livestock, we offer a 28+ day grazing option on our farm prior to homekill. This allows your steer or heifer time to settle, finish, and adjust in a calm, managed environment before processing.

Grazing for 28 days or longer helps reduce stress and supports animal welfare, which can also contribute to better meat quality. This option is ideal for customers who don’t have suitable grazing available or who want a more convenient, hands off solution.

Grazing periods beyond 28 days can be arranged by discussion, depending on the animal and availability. All grazing arrangements are agreed upfront so you know exactly what to expect.
